Job Description

A Huff Energy Solutions Project Manager provides overall management for multiple small and medium size construction projects, the majority as pre-engineered metal buildings. Also may require management of small general contracting job activities. They serve as the primary contact with owners and must continually foster a positive relationship with all parties involved. Project Managers generate and monitor cost estimates, prime contracts, schedules, subcontracts, owner and subcontractor change orders, RFI’s, and process submittals. Focus is on projects of extremely high risk, complexity and visibility.

Detailed Work Activities:
  • Guide owners and General Contractors through the entire construction process.
  • Create and administer prime subcontracts and change orders.
  • Perform weekly jobsite meetings and evaluate construction quality.
  • Generate project schedules and timelines.
  • Generate detailed and conceptual project cost estimates.
  • Evaluate construction methods, determine cost effectiveness of plans and provide value engineering.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Resolve issues related to cost, schedule and related construction challenges.
  • Estimate materials and labor requirements.
  • Read and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • Monitor and approve all construction cost associated with each project.
  • Perform construction close out to include work completion, punch list, final job cost accounting, owner turn over.
  • Monitor project progress, deliverables, quality assurance, and customer service. Report status to client and identify and resolve risks that impact project completion.
  • Providing customer service to client by developing team behaviors and empowering team members to plan and execute work.
  • Develop new processes as necessary to ensure mission critical systems are completed; provide expertise in identifying appropriate methodologies for large-scale development efforts.
  • Prepares and delivers formal presentations to colleagues and management. Shares “best practices” for account management staff development and technical expertise.
  • May be assigned tasks and responsibilities on occasion outside of this scope of work in order to test aptitude.
Knowledge, Skills, and Activities:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from a four-year college or university, plus 5 years minimum experience in a business analyst, project management, or information technology role in a complex business and systems environment; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Must have sound knowledge of materials, methods, and practices involved in construction of commercial buildings.
  • Must be competent at reading and understanding plans.
  • Must be experienced in preparing/presenting cost estimates, schedules and services for construction projects.
  • Must have knowledge of the pre engineered steel buildings methods and practices.
  • Computer skill requirements include MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project, MS Outlook and other project management software.
  • Ability to demonstrate team building, leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Must be proficient with all project management administration activities, including all Project Engineer duties.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of hardware/software technologies used within application area, including mainframe and PC platforms, programming languages, database technologies, and network and telecommunications protocols.
Job Details:

This is a regular Fulltime position and required a work schedule of 40+ hours per week. This business nature could result in layoffs. Location is subject to the specific project assignment. Salary depends on experience.

Environmental Conditions:
  • Indoors in typical office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes approximately ninety-five percent (95%) of the time.
  • Outdoors with exposure to noise, heat, and cold approximately five (5%) of the time.
  • Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • May move (walk or drive) from one work location to another occasionally.
Physical Demands
  • Attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to in climate weather conditions.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle.
Compensation:
  • Compensation is based on experience and skill level. Pay Scale: ($80K – $110K annually).
  • Health benefits the first of the month following sixty (60) days of continuous employment.
